Approve Harvester AI Reporting in ChatGPT or Claude | Setup Guide
This guide explains how a company user connects Harvester Payroll Online to ChatGPT or Claude and approves secure, read-only payroll reporting access. You only need to authorise the connection once, unless you disconnect it or your AI provider asks you to reconnect.
1. ASK HARVESTER SUPPORT TO ENABLE THE USERS
Harvester AI Reporting is an optional feature that must be activated for each authorised user. Ask Harvester Support or your Harvester Support Administrator to enable AI Reporting for the specific users in your company who want the feature. The company should decide which staff may access confidential payroll figures.
Each user must have an active level-5 Harvester account and an individual AI Reporting licence. Harvester Support Admin performs the activation. Loan reporting requires separate permission.
Support email: support@harvesteronline.net
2. LOG INTO HARVESTER AND COPY THE MCP URL
Sign into Harvester with your own normal username and password, preferably using the same browser in which you will connect your AI assistant.
Open AI Reporting, then select Connect or manage AI account. You can also open:
https://www.harvesteronline.net/ai_reporting_connections.php
Check that your company and AI licence information are correct. Click Copy URL beside the MCP server URL. You do not need an API key, and you must never share your Harvester password with an AI assistant.
3. ADD HARVESTER TO CHATGPT OR CLAUDE
ChatGPT: In a compatible account or workspace, go to Plugins and add a custom MCP server. Give it a name such as Harvester Payroll, paste the copied URL and select OAuth authentication. Complete the connection setup and any security prompts.
Claude: Go to Customize, then Connectors, then Add custom connector. Name it Harvester Payroll and paste the MCP URL. Choose to sign in; for the Harvester OAuth setup, select Register automatically when asked for the OAuth client method.
The exact provider menus and eligible account plans can change. Your AI provider may also offer a Connect or Sign in action after the connector is added.
4. APPROVE ACCESS ON THE HARVESTER PAGE
ChatGPT or Claude starts the secure authorisation process and opens a page on www.harvesteronline.net. This is a Harvester page, not an AI chat message. The approval page is called Connect Harvester AI Reporting to ChatGPT or Claude, depending on the provider.
If you are already logged into Harvester, the page shows your signed-in name, company name, licence expiry and what data may be shared. Check these details carefully.
If you are not logged in, the page says Harvester login required. Select Open Harvester login, sign in in the new browser tab, then return to the original authorisation tab and reload it. Do not close the original tab while doing this.
When the correct user and company are shown, click Approve read-only access. If anything is wrong, choose Cancel and contact Harvester Support instead.
After approval, you are redirected back to ChatGPT or Claude to finish the connection. Do not open the authorisation URL directly: your AI assistant must start the request.
5. CHECK THE CONNECTION BEFORE REQUESTING PAYROLL DETAILS
In ChatGPT or Claude, select the Harvester Payroll connection and ask:
Using my Harvester Payroll connection, confirm the company I am connected to, the reporting access available and the API version. Do not retrieve employee details yet.
Confirm the company is correct before asking for payroll reports, department wages, journals or employee information. AI Reporting is read-only and cannot change payslips, payroll periods or accounting entries.
6. REVOKE OR TROUBLESHOOT A CONNECTION
To revoke an authorisation, sign into Harvester as the same user, open Manage AI Connections and click the red Revoke connection button. This disconnects your own authorisation, not other employees in your company. A company administrator can separately ask Harvester Support to disable an individual user licence.
If the authorisation request expires, start the connection again from ChatGPT or Claude. If the Harvester login is not recognised, make sure you signed into the correct company in the same browser, then return to and reload the approval tab.
Revoking future access does not erase payroll figures already shared with the AI provider or saved in previous AI conversations.
PRIVACY AND PERMISSIONS
Harvester sends payroll data to the chosen AI provider only when an authorised user requests it. Reports may include employee names, wages, PAYE, NAPSA and NHIMA. Loan reporting is available only where separately enabled. The connection does not grant access to passwords or bank details and cannot post or edit payroll.
Only connect an AI account approved by your organisation to handle confidential payroll information.
